Community Service Policy For Middle School/High School Students

All student community service at the school site has been temporarily halted due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will reconsider student community service when it is safe.

For Middle School/High School Students

Students who would like to fulfill requirements for Community Service/Volunteering Hours at Carpenter Community Charter must follow the School Policy as outlined below.  If the policy is not followed as stated, the student will be denied the volunteering opportunity.

  • Students (not Parents) must contact one of our Teachers or our Coordinator to request a day/time to volunteer at least 3 days in advance of desired service.
  • Teacher has the right to deny any request.
  • Students must have a current TB Test in order to volunteer unless they are still enrolled in a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) School.
  • On the first day of volunteering, students must bring their Community Service Paperwork to the Main Office BEFORE signing in and picking up a visitor’s badge.
  • Parent permission, including contact number(s), must be included in paperwork.

  • Coordinator/Teacher must work together to arrange/confirm a Student’s service day/time at least 3 days in advance.
  • Coordinator/Teacher must arrange for meaningful service for the Student.
  • Either Coordinator or the Teacher may sign/date Community Service/Volunteer Hours paperwork at the conclusion of the service.

  • When Student arrives to volunteer, notify Coordinator to confirm arrangements.
  • Request proof of TB test and the Community Service Paperwork, including parent permission note.
  • Direct Student to sign in and wear badge visibly on upper body.
  • Field phone calls from Students requesting service hours and explain requirements.
